100% Malvasia Istriana white grape wine. Straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose offers notes of citrus, almond and mountain flowers, embellished with mineral and balsamic touches. Fresh and savory taste, citrusy in the gustatory development.
Why did we select this wine?
The name “Malvasia” derives from the Greek city Monemvasia in the Peloponnese. Malvasia Istriana is considered an authentic Istrian variety and it was confirmed by DNA analysis that it is different from all the other numerous varieties of Malvasia. It is famous for being a vibrant white.
This Venezia Giulia Malvasia IGT from Roncús is produced with the use of steel for fermentation and subsequent aging on the fine lees. A fragrant and mineral white, which brings the essence of the magical Friulian territory into the glass.
Marco Percio
On the scenic hills of Capriva del Friuli, in the heart of Collio, Roncus winery’s vineyards lie as small spots, for a total of ten hectares.
The lands are cultivated by Marco Percio -family 3rd generation- a meticulous winemaker who has made the time a valuable allied. Some vines, for example, reach seventy years of age, and produce very few clusters but of excellent quality. The acacia woods surrounding vineyards make then even more fascinating these small terraced hills.
In the cellar, the philosophy of the long times expected long maturation; for this reason the wines do not come out until a year and a half after the harvest. Fermentation uses only native yeasts and precedes a long rest on the lees in steel or wood: the aromas thus tend to concentrate and to give their best. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtration, according to a traditional protocol that determines production criteria.
